notes
and essays by arthur tress
At
every stage in his development as a photographer, Tress has claryfied
- his
thoughts and intentions in notebook jottings, in theoretical writings and
- in
critical expositions of his own work after the fact. The selection of texts
- reproduced
here were written during the decade 1970 to 1980 and thus
- provide
a vivid framework for the successive groups of photographs in
- this
online exhibition. All texts reproduced here were originally publsihed
- in
»Talisman« [edited by Marco Livingstone. London: Thames and
Hudson,
- 1986.
] pages 147-153. We thank Arthur Tress for his permission to publish
- them
here in digital form for the first time.
